The Story
Binnie & Clode Co was founded in 2020 during the covid-19 pandemic. Our founder, Federico, found himself re-evaluating the important things in life and embarked on his search for a greater purpose.
Candles had always brought him a certain sense of warmth and relaxation and he found the process of creating them both therapeutic and exciting. Until now he had produced candles for family and friends as gifts.
But now, he realized it was time to open up a business creating the best smelling candles out there and that he would donate a portion of all profits to local animal charities. Think of it as candles with a greater purpose. Federico began crafting and perfecting his scents in his apartment and when every aspect was perfect, he rented a small studio to continue production.
Last stop was creating a name for this new company. Looking at his beloved cats, Bonnie & Clyde, he realized there could be no greater mascots for his company than these two. And so after experimenting with a few different playful variations, the name Binnie & Clode Co. was born!
The Studio
Located in downtown Rutherford, NJ; our studio is perfect for producing small batch premium candles. We share our co-op space with a seamstress, artists and woodworkers. Collaboration is key and this teamwork allows us to offer our best products!
The Products
We don't believe in mass producing candles by the thousands. That's why all of our candles are hand poured in small batches in Rutherford, NJ. We use only the highest quality phthalate free fragrance & essential oils & try to source materials locally where possible. All candles are made with lead free wicks & U.S. grown soy wax. Everything is vegan & cruelty free. We'd like to think that our techniques and the level of care we bring to each batch produces the best smelling candles available.
The Mission
We believe in producing great candles using premium components. We believe in giving back. That's why we donate a portion of our profits to local animal welfare & rescue organizations. By purchasing our products, not only will your home smell amazing, but you'll also feel great knowing you are contributing to an animal in need. It's a win-win. The more candles are purchased, the more we are able to help out animals in need.
The Founders
Bonnie
Bonnie was rescued as an 8 week old kitten from the streets of Belleville, NJ. She was hiding in the wheel well of a car when a passerby noticed and called the local fire department. At the time, Federico was traveling for work but knew he wanted to adopt a furry friend. His sister sent him a picture of Bonnie and it was love at first sight! Bonnie enjoys bird watching and catnip.
Clyde
Federico knew he wanted to provide Bonnie with a partner in crime. A few months after Bonnie, Federico adopted Clyde from a local animal shelter in Teterboro, NJ. Clyde enjoys belly rubs and playing with string.
Federico
A lifetime animal lover and long time vegan, Federico believes in the beauty of nature and all of its' inhabitants. When not working on candles, he can be found enjoying time with his wife and cats or traveling the world looking for his next great vegan food find!
